Description
ABOUT THIS FABRIC
Monk's cloth is a heavy cotton fabric with an open basketweave pattern, most famously used as the premier foundation backing for punch needle, rug hooking and modern tufting.
BUILT FOR LOOPED PILE
Its loose, even grid lets specialized tools and thick yarn loops glide through effortlessly while gripping them securely in place, so you can build durable rugs, pillows and wall hangings.
A WEAVE WITH HISTORY
Historically used by medieval monks to craft simple, sturdy robes and tunics, this versatile material is also a favorite for Swedish weaving (huck embroidery), where decorative floss is floated over the surface threads to create intricate table runners and kitchen towels.
